Minebea, Papst Settle Decade-Long Suit

Law360, New York (April 25, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Japanese company Minebea Co. Ltd. has agreed to pay former partner Papst Licensing GmbH & Co. KG $6.7 million to put to rest a long-standing patent dispute, Papst said Wednesday.

The settlement comes eight months after a district court judge in Washington, D.C. dismissed $500 million in claims Minebea brought against German licensing company Papst and its founder and president, Georg Papst. Minebea sued its rival for charges of conversion, breach of contract, patent exhaustion and patent misuse.
