US To Lease Wyo. Land For Coal Mining

Law360, New York (March 22, 2011, 11:27 PM EDT) -- Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar on Tuesday announced a plan to sell leases for mining tracts of land in the Powder River Basin in Wyoming that were estimated to hold 2.35 billion tons of coal.

Over the next few months, the Bureau of Land Management will hold competitive lease sales on four plots of land, which hold about 758 million tons of low sulfur coal, according to the U.S. Department of the Interior.
