Chesapeake Energy Project Halted Over Water Issues

Law360, New York (March 23, 2011, 7:39 PM EDT) -- Pennsylvania environmental authorities ordered Chesapeake Energy Corp. on Wednesday to halt work on a natural gas drilling well pad after finding the company failed to comply with site-preparation regulations, causing erosion that has affected the water supply for hundreds of surrounding households.

The state Department of Environmental Protection said the company's failure to implement required erosion and sediment controls had impacted one of Galeton Borough Water Authority’s water sources.
