Abbott Strikes Deal In Antitrust Battle Over HIV Drugs

Law360, New York (March 24, 2011, 3:09 PM EDT) -- Abbott Laboratories has settled with Rite Aid Corp., CVS Caremark Corp., Meijer Inc. and others in litigation — including a class action — in California alleging the drugmaker stifled competition for HIV drugs, an Abbott spokeswoman said Thursday.

The settlement, which still requires court approval, covers three of four cases that went to trial together on Feb. 28 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California related to drugs known as protease inhibitors.
