House Renews Push To Ban Discrimination Of Gays

Law360, New York (April 25, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A long-debated federal law to ban workplace discrimination against gay, lesbian and bisexual individuals resurfaced Tuesday, when a bipartisan group reintroduced the bill.

The latest version of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) for the first time extends protections beyond gays, lesbians and bisexuals to also include transgender people. In the past, the issue of gender identity has been deemed too controversial and likely to hinder the bill from passing.
