Visa, MasterCard Hit With Canadian Antitrust Action

Law360, New York (March 29, 2011, 4:11 PM ET) -- A furniture store owner filed a class action Monday in Canada against Visa Canada Corp., MasterCard International Inc. and others, alleging a multibillion-dollar price-fixing conspiracy to boost the fees paid by merchants on credit card transactions.

Canadian law firms Branch MacMaster LLP and Camp Fiorante Matthews filed the civil claim Monday in the Supreme Court of British Columbia on behalf of Mary Watson, who has owned and operated a furniture store in Vancouver, British Columbia, since 1990.
