Google Blocks Rival Search Engines, Microsoft Tells EU

Law360, New York (March 31, 2011, 12:59 PM EDT) -- Microsoft Corp. on Wednesday joined the chorus of online search providers asking European Union antitrust regulators to stop Google Inc. from abusing its market dominance, accusing the Internet giant of blocking rivals from data they need to compete.

In a first for the software behemoth, Microsoft lodged a formal complaint with the European Commission as part of an antitrust investigation into Google's behavior in the online search market, a Microsoft executive said in a company blog post Wednesday night.
