WellPoint, Ex-Workers Settle Age Bias Suits For $2.6M

Law360, New York (April 04, 2011, 4:17 PM ET) -- Health insurer WellPoint Inc. and a group of former employees agreed to a $2.6 million settlement Friday to end an age discrimination collective action litigation in Virginia.

The plaintiffs and WellPoint filed a joint motion in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia seeking preliminary approval of the deal, which would cover two cases, one of which was preliminarily certified as a collection action under the Age Discrimination in Employment Act in May 2009.
