Timber Co. Wins $7M Over Forest Service Contract

Law360, New York (April 6, 2011, 3:13 PM EDT) -- Scott Timber Co. on Tuesday won a judgment of more than $6.8 million in its lawsuit accusing the U.S. of wrongfully suspending and breaching three timber contracts for forest areas in Oregon.

Judge Charles F. Lettow of the U.S. Court of Federal Claims rejected several arguments to limit those damages by the government, which was found liable to the company in an earlier phase of the proceedings. The post-trial decision was filed under seal March 31 but reissued Tuesday.
