Televisa Joins Mexico Mobile Market With Iusacell Deal

Law360, New York (April 7, 2011, 1:19 PM EDT) -- Mexican broadcaster Grupo Televisa SAB said Thursday it would invest a total of $1.56 billion to acquire 50 percent of Grupo Iusacell Celular SA de CV in a move that gives it an entry into Mexico's rapidly growing mobile phone and data market. 

The broadcaster announced the move — which gives it a platform to compete in a market currently dominated by Carlos Slim, the world's richest man — on the Mexican stock exchange.
