Senate Panel Sends Liu Nomination For 3rd Vote

Law360, New York (April 7, 2011, 7:34 PM EDT) -- The Senate Judiciary Committee sent the controversial nomination of Goodwin Liu to the Ninth Circuit bench to the Senate floor for a third time on Thursday, as well as nominees for New Jersey and New York district courts.

The committee's party line vote followed an hour of debate by committee members. Four other nominees — for district courts in New Jersey, New York and the Northern Mariana Islands — were sent to the floor on unanimous votes.
