Consumer Union Warns Congress On AT&T, T-Mobile Buy

Law360, New York (April 12, 2011, 3:45 PM EDT) -- The nonprofit publisher of Consumer Reports magazine warned congressional leaders in a letter Tuesday that AT&T Inc.'s planned $39 billion acquisition of T-Mobile USA Inc. could hurt customers' wallets and limit their access to quality wireless service.

Consumers Union's letter, sent ahead of several congressional hearings on the proposed deal, cited recent surveys showing that T-Mobile customers have access to lower-priced plans and are more satisfied with their service than AT&T customers.
