Infineon Claims Rival Atmel Infringes 11 Tech Patents

Law360, New York (April 12, 2011, 5:34 PM EDT) -- Infineon Technologies AG sued Atmel Corp. in a Delaware federal court on Monday alleging the German technology manufacturer has infringed eleven patents related to microcontrollers.

Infineon and its U.S. unit filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware alleging Atmel willfully violated the patents with sales of its 8-bit and 32-bit AVR microcontrollers, which are small computer chips used in industrial, communications, automotive and other products.

Atmel has also advanced its own claims of infringement.
