BRICS Nations Press For Russia To Join WTO

Law360, New York (April 14, 2011, 3:36 PM EDT) -- The governments of Brazil, India, China and South Africa on Thursday threw their support behind a fellow emerging market by pushing for Russia's entry into the World Trade Organization.

WTO members must support a “strong, open, rule-based multilateral trading system” that would include Russia as soon as possible, and reach a successful conclusion to the Doha Development Round trade talks, leaders of the so-called BRICS nations said in a joint declaration following a summit in Sanya, China.
