Customers Pick Up Deal In Trash Hauling Antitrust Suit

Law360, New York (April 15, 2011, 2:06 PM EDT) -- Hundreds of customers of two waste disposal companies can share in a $600,000 settlement from an antitrust suit against an incarcerated garbage czar who allegedly inflated prices and rigged bids for trash-hauling contracts, Connecticut's attorney general said Thursday.

Connecticut Attorney General George Jepsen said the payout would be distributed to an estimated 500 commercial customers of Automated Waste Disposal Inc. and Thomas Refuse Services Inc., which Connecticut would get under a deal to resolve a lawsuit the state filed against the companies' ex-owner James E.
