Wilson Sonsini Reps Seagate In $1.4B Samsung Deal

Law360, New York (April 19, 2011, 2:18 PM EDT) -- Seagate Technology PLC expanded its cross-licensing agreement with consumer electronics giant Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. on Tuesday with a $1.4 billion deal that will combine the hard disk drive operations of the two companies.

Under the terms of the deal, Seagate will pay Samsung $1.4 billion — half in stock and half in cash — for Samsung’s semiconductor technology, which it will use in its solid-state drives and other products.
