Law360, New York (April 20, 2011, 8:53 PM ET) -- Webvention LLC accused Merck & Co Inc., Daimler AG and 20 others on Tuesday in Texas of infringing a patent related to data organization.
The plaintiff accuses the defendants of infringing U.S. Patent Number 5,251,294 through their websites, demanding that they cough up damages due to the allegedly infringing activities.
The patent-in-suit was issued in 1993 and is titled "Accessing, assembling and using bodies of information." It describes structures and methods for “an interactive information environment” used to organize online data through labels.
