Godiva Strikes $1.25M Deal In 2nd Calif. OT Suit

Law360, New York (April 20, 2011, 8:57 PM EDT) -- A California state judge on Tuesday preliminarily approved Godiva Chocolatier Inc.’s offer to pay up to $1.25 million to resolve a class action by chocolatiers and other hourly workers who claim the candymaker denied them meal breaks and overtime pay.

Judge Dierdre Hill of the Los Angeles Superior Court granted preliminary approval to a settlement that would resolve the plaintiffs’ allegations that Godiva violated the overtime, meal break, rest period, untimely wage payment and record-keeping provisions of California’s labor laws.
