FDA Warns Hand Sanitizer Makers Over Product Claims

Law360, New York (April 21, 2011, 8:05 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration cautioned a quartet of hand sanitizer makers Monday that their products were not living up to the companies' claims that the gels effectively prevented bacterial infection.

The FDA sent warning letters to Tec Laboratories Inc., JD Nelson and Associates LLC, Dr. G.H. Tichenor Antiseptic Co. and Oh So Clean Inc., saying they were violating the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act by claiming their hand sanitizers were effective in preventing against infections.
