Holder Launches Probe Into Energy Market Fraud

Law360, New York (April 21, 2011, 3:24 PM EDT) -- With average gas prices soaring to nearly $4 per gallon, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder on Thursday announced the formation of a working group that will examine potential fraud and collusion in the energy markets.

The working group, part of the Obama administration's Financial Fraud Enforcement Task Force, will explore whether there is any evidence of manipulation of oil and gas prices or of misrepresentations at the retail or wholesale levels.
