T-Mobile Merger Will Boost Competition, AT&T Tells FCC

Law360, New York (April 21, 2011, 7:22 PM EDT) -- AT&T Inc. told federal regulators Thursday that its proposed $39 billion takeover of T-Mobile USA Inc. would promote, rather than harm, competition in the U.S. wireless market.

The merger would send the Deutsche Telekom AG unit and its 33.7 million customers to AT&T for $25 billion in cash and $14 billion in stock, and the company has staked a $3 billion break-up fee on its ability to sell the Federal Communications Commission and the U.S. Department of Justice's Antitrust Division on the combination.
