Coast Guard Slams Transocean Over Gulf Spill

Law360, New York (April 22, 2011, 6:21 PM EDT) -- Poor maintenance and unpreparedness by Deepwater Horizon owner-operator Transocean Ltd. hurt the chances of preventing or mitigating the April 2010 disaster that became the largest oil spill in U.S. history, according to a Coast Guard report released Friday.

The Coast Guard is part of a broader investigative team that also includes the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement, and the findings issued Friday will be included in a final report expected no later than July 27.
