Chinese Officials Crack Down On Music Piracy

Law360, New York (April 25, 2011, 1:40 PM EDT) -- The Chinese government reportedly said Monday that it would punish online search provider Baidu Inc. and 13 other websites for giving Internet users access to illegal music downloads.

An official from the country's Ministry of Culture said the search engine's Baidu MP3 service and the other sites were allowing downloads for unregistered illegal music despite being warned multiple times against the practice, state news agency Xinhua reported Monday.
