Cuomo Bans Pols, Others From Pension Fund Dealings

Law360, New York (April 26, 2011, 6:00 PM EDT) -- New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Tuesday that elected officials, lobbyists and placement agents would be banned from state pension fund dealings in the wake of Alan Hevesi's conviction for running a pay-to-play scheme while he was state comptroller.

Cuomo, a Democrat who investigated state pension fund corruption as New York attorney general, said he directed the state Insurance Department to enact the ban and raise standards of conduct to eliminate the practice of taking money in exchange for access to the pension fund.
