Kason Fined For Customer Allocation Plot In Canada

Law360, New York (May 6, 2011, 3:50 PM EDT) -- A Canadian federal court has fined Kason Industries Inc. following the company's guilty plea to plotting with another refrigeration equipment manufacturer to divvy up customers in the U.S. and Canada, the country's antitrust watchdog said Friday.

The Ottawa court issued the CA$250,000 ($260,392) criminal penalty against Kason on March 8 for its role in the customer allocation conspiracy with Component Hardware Group Inc., which has already forced the two hardware makers to pay out millions to settle with U.S. prosecutors and private litigants alike.
