DOD Services Contracts Outpace Other Growth

Law360, New York (May 9, 2011, 8:20 PM EDT) -- Military contracting for health care and other services is growing at a much faster rate than for products and R&D, according to a report issued Friday, despite being held back somewhat by combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The report from the Center for Strategic and International Studies, which used the Federal Procurement Data System as its primary source of information, found U.S. Department of Defense spending on services contracts grew steadily throughout the 1990s and now constitute nearly 45 percent of total DOD contract spending....
