Houston Gas Trader Gets 6 Years For $8M Fraud

Law360, New York (May 9, 2011, 7:41 PM EDT) -- A former Houston gas trader was sentenced on Monday to six years in federal prison for bilking some of the world's largest energy companies out of $7.9 million of natural gas.

Stephanie Roqumore, 48, pled guilty in February to two counts of wire fraud as part of a plea deal with federal prosecutors. Her attorney, Wendell A. Odom Jr., told Law360 on Monday that while he was trying to get a shorter sentence for his client, the time period was obviously within congressional sentencing guidelines....
