Leagues Skate Off Youth Hockey Antitrust Suit

Law360, Washington (May 12, 2011, 6:15 PM ET) -- A Minnesota federal judge on Thursday released a dozen local hockey leagues from an antitrust suit alleging one of them conspired to drive a rival out of business by preventing players from playing in more than one league.

Minnesota Hockey Inc. and its District 6 division will remain on the hook for all claims, since the plaintiff has presented sufficient facts to support its claims that they engaged in anti-competitive behavior, Judge John R. Tunheim ruled. The local hockey associations should not, however, the judge said....
