BP MDL Plaintiffs Seek Separate Trials

Law360, New York (May 12, 2011, 2:22 PM EDT) -- BP PLC could face three massive class actions from investors and employees over April 2010's Gulf of Mexico oil spill if the Texas federal judge overseeing the sprawling multidistrict litigation agrees to a request filed by plaintiffs Wednesday.

Securities plaintiffs, derivative plaintiffs and former employees suing under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act said in an advisory that although it made sense to perform discovery together, their cases have enough inherent legal differences that they require separate trials.
