US Seeks $1B From J&J Over Risperdal Marketing

Law360, New York (May 12, 2011, 4:59 PM EDT) -- Prosecutors reportedly were seeking about $1 billion from Johnson & Johnson on Thursday to settle a federal criminal investigation into the company's off-label promotion of the antipsychotic drug Risperdal.

Sources familiar with the negotiations said that J&J was surprised at the amount being sought and that prosecutors were pushing for a quick resolution to an investigation that began in 2004, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.
