MGA Not Paying Fees For Other Bratz Battle: Orrick

Law360, New York (May 13, 2011, 8:08 PM EDT) -- Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, which helped MGA Entertainment Inc. prevail over Mattel Inc. in the fight over Bratz dolls, said Friday it wants to withdraw from defending MGA against a New York artist's Bratz copyright suit because of nonpayment of fees.

Orrick attorney Lisa T. Simpson told a Manhattan federal judge during a status conference that MGA has not paid its legal bills for more than a year, despite the company's success in winning an $88 million verdict against Mattel in April.
