Video Game Industry A Boon To Lawyers

Law360, New York (August 19, 2011, 1:02 PM EDT) -- Now that the gaming industry has shed its startup roots to become a $25 billion-a-year entertainment juggernaut, litigation stemming from video games is on the rise, including patent and copyright infringement suits, disputes between employers and talent, and battles over licensing deals, attorneys say.

Between 2005 and 2009, the U.S. video and computer game industry grew by more than 10 percent per year, or almost 10 times faster than the national economy, according to statistics published by the Entertainment Software Association trade group.
