Calif. Police Face Suit Over Firing Range Debris

Law360, New York (May 18, 2011, 12:37 PM EDT) -- A group of Torrance, Calif., residents filed a lawsuit in state court on Monday accusing a local police department of exposing them to toxic chemicals by failing to properly dispose of bullet debris from a firing range.

More than two dozen Torrance residents claim that the police department in Redondo Beach, a neighboring town, has operated its firing range without cleaning up bullets, bullet fragments, copper and lead particles, and other potentially hazardous wastes, putting an unknown number of locals and their property in jeopardy....
