GOP Blocks Liu Confirmation For 9th Circ. Post

Law360, New York (May 19, 2011, 4:51 PM EDT) -- Goodwin Liu's ascension to the Ninth Circuit was stalled Thursday after Senate Democrats failed to muster enough votes to close debate on the controversial nomination, with Senate Republicans vowing to filibuster.

Meanwhile, President Barack Obama announced that he has chosen Alaska Supreme Court Justice Morgan Christen to fill another vacancy on the Ninth Circuit left by the retirement of Circuit Judge Andrew Kleinfeld in June.
