JPML Won't Separate La. Avandia Suit From MDL

Law360, New York (May 23, 2011, 8:16 PM ET) -- A federal judicial panel on Friday rejected Louisiana's bid to keep its suit alleging GlaxoSmithKline PLC failed to warn consumers of the risks associated with its diabetes medication Avandia separate from parallel multidistrict litigation in Pennsylvania.

The U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation denied the state's motion to vacate the panel's earlier order conditionally transferring its action in Louisiana to the MDL over the drug's risks currently pending in Pennsylvania before Judge Cynthia M. Rufe.
