DOJ Ends Review Of Caterpillar's $8.6B Bucyrus Buy

Law360, New York (May 20, 2011, 9:14 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Justice has closed its antitrust investigation into Caterpillar Inc.’s $8.6 billion takeover of Bucyrus International Inc., the mining equipment companies announced Friday.

The end of the DOJ’s investigation coincides with the expiration of the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act waiting period and marks the conclusion of the deal’s antitrust review process in the U.S., the companies said.
