Supreme Court Rebuffs Texas Bus Crash Case

Law360, New York (May 23, 2011, 3:06 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Supreme Court declined Monday to hear arguments about whether federal law preempts a case brought against Motor Coach Industries Inc. over a bus crash in Texas that killed five passengers and injured several more.

MCI, the manufacturer of the bus in question, previously managed to overturn a $17 million verdict on the grounds that jurors should have been asked to consider the proportionate liability of the bus owner and driver.
