Interior, Commerce Join Forces On Offshore Energy Issues

Law360, New York (May 23, 2011, 10:44 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of the Interior and Commerce announced a joint effort Monday to marry regulation with scientific research to ensure environmentally sound offshore energy development, fulfilling a presidential commission's recommendation following the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

The Interior Department's Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement and Commerce's National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration signed a memorandum of understanding that increases coordination in regulating energy production in the outer continental shelves.
