Law360, New York (May 25, 2011, 1:24 PM ET) -- A California federal judge ruled Monday that a municipal sewage regulator made 21 illegal sewage discharges into the San Francisco Bay without a permit.
U.S. District Judge Edward Chen found that the West Bay Sanitary District’s own internal reports showed that its sanitary sewer overflows discharged pollutants into surface waters in violation of the Clean Water Act, adding that the district didn’t go out of its way to deny the discharges.
