Enviro Suit Over Post-BP Spill Oil Leases Kept Intact

Law360, New York (May 25, 2011, 5:12 PM EDT) -- An Alabama federal judge on Monday trimmed, but largely kept intact, a suit accusing the U.S. of finalizing at least 221 oil drilling leases in the Gulf of Mexico without any environmental review that took into account the Deepwater Horizon disaster.

The U.S. Department of the Interior and its Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement — along with intervening defendants Chevron Corp. and four energy trade groups — had moved to dismiss the complaint on various grounds.
