FDA Warns Retailers Over Illegal Tobacco Marketing

Law360, New York (May 25, 2011, 1:34 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said Wednesday it had sent 11 warning letters to online retailers of tobacco products accusing them of illegal marketing practices.

The FDA said in a statement that the retailers — which include companies, individuals and several individual websites — attached misleading or unfounded claims or descriptions to their products suggesting they reduce threat of tobacco-related diseases.
