Law360, New York (May 27, 2011, 1:46 PM ET) -- Patent holder Medsquire LLC sued Hewlett-Packard Co., Quest Diagnostics Inc., Athenahealth Inc. and others Wednesday in California, alleging they infringe a patent covering software that organizes patient information records.

Medsquire claims the defendants have infringed the patent by offering electronic health records systems, and have induced customers and partners to infringe as well.

The suit asserts U.S. Patent Number 5,682,526, issued in 1997 and titled “Method and system for flexibly organizing, recording and displaying medical patient care information using fields in a flowsheet.” Pasadena, Calif.-based Medsquire...
