Cairn Seeks €2M Per Day For Greenpeace Disruptions

Law360, New York (June 2, 2011, 8:00 PM EDT) -- Cairn Energy PLC, whose Arctic drilling operations have been disrupted by a Greenpeace protest, asked a Dutch court to fine the environmental group €2 million ($2.9 million) for each day that operations are delayed, Greenpeace said Thursday.

Cairn's legal papers said that delays in drilling could cost the company up to $4 million a day and sought an injunction, according to the green group. Cairn's case will have a hearing in a Dutch court Monday.
