Law360, New York (July 05, 2011, 10:51 AM ET) -- Even companies that are diligent about heeding their obligations under employment laws may be in for a shock when they move to California, which imposes requirements on employers that go beyond the protections found in other state and federal statutes.
California's labor laws have given the state a reputation for being employee-friendly, and Arizona and Nevada have benefited from that reputation, with businesses setting up shop in those neighboring states, said Eric Tate, co-chair of Morrison & Foerster LLP's employment and labor practice group.
