7th Circ. Questions Ex-Abbott Workers' ERISA Suit Bid

Law360, New York (June 06, 2011, 9:01 PM ET) -- The Seventh Circuit on Monday expressed skepticism over a bid by former Abbott Laboratories workers to revive their Employee Retirement Income Security Act class action over the 2004 spinoff of Hospira Inc.

The plaintiffs allege that the spinoff, which involved nearly 15,000 employees in Abbott's hospital products division, was structured to deprive class members of retirement benefits under Abbott's benefit plans.
