9th Circ. Nixes Fired Plaintiffs' Atty's Fee Claims

Law360, New York (June 6, 2011, 2:29 PM EDT) -- The Ninth Circuit on Friday largely ruled against a fired plaintiffs’ attorney who claimed Federal Express Corp. and her former co-counsel failed to pay her sufficient fees after employment discrimination lawsuits settled for more than $4 million.

In a brief ruling, the appeals court said the lower court was right to award Kay McKenzie Parker only 25 percent of the contingent fee — approximately $127,800 — and give the rest to her former co-counsel, Waukeen McCoy of the Law Offices of Waukeen Q. McCoy.
