Motorola Can't Nix Apple Antitrust Suit Over IP Licenses

Law360, New York (June 8, 2011, 9:09 PM EDT) -- A Wisconsin federal judge on Tuesday mostly denied Motorola Mobility Inc.'s attempt to dismiss Apple Inc.'s breach of contract suit alleging anti-competitive conduct by Motorola in relation to a separate infringement suit over patents covering wireless and smartphone technologies.

Apple's suit claims that Motorola failed to disclose its ownership of seven wireless patents in a timely manner and has refused to negotiate a license in good faith for those patents, which Motorola claims are essential to wireless standards adopted by the industry.
