7th Circ. Does About-Face In Row Over Laid-Off Teachers

Law360, New York (June 13, 2011, 6:09 PM EDT) -- The Seventh Circuit on Monday overturned its own decision to force Chicago's public school system to allow laid-off tenured teachers to reapply for their old jobs, saying it wanted the opinion of the Illinois Supreme Court.

Chicago's Board of Education, which came under fire from the Chicago Teachers Union for replacing laid-off tenured teachers with new hires, got even more than it asked from the Seventh Circuit.
