FTC Clears Ebro’s €205M Acquisition Of SOS Rice Units

Law360, New York (June 14, 2011, 4:07 PM EDT) -- The Federal Trade Commission on Monday cleared Spanish food company Ebro Foods SA to take over the rice divisions of SOS Corporacion Alementaria SA, including an American subsidiary, in a €205 million ($297 million) deal.

Ebro announced in November that it intended to buy SOS's rice business, and the deal was finalized in March pending regulatory approval in Spain and the U.S. The deal includes SOS Cuetara USA Inc., a rice, olive oil and biscuits producer which in 2003 acquired Houston-based American Rice Inc.
