ITC Grants Smith & Wesson's Firearms Probe Request

Law360, Washington (June 14, 2011, 6:09 PM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission fired off a new investigation Tuesday into whether importers of certain muzzle-loading firearms used primarily for hunting are infringing valid patents held by Smith & Wesson Holdings Corp. units.

The ITC initiated the probe at the request of Thompson/Center Arms Company Inc. and Smith & Wesson, which jointly filed a complaint with the commission in May requesting that it issue an exclusion order and a cease and desist order.
